The 6th Light Infantry Battalion participated, on the morning of May 28, in a demonstration of the combat power of the Infantry Weapon in the instruction area of the Academia Militar das Agulhas Negras – AMAN (Military Academy).
The activity aimed to commemorate the Infantry Day, which occurred on May 24th. The 6th Light Infantry Battalion demonstrated the aeromobile assault, with the execution of defensive shots with the Light Infantry weapons, as well as the peculiar use of fire and movement of what is considered the “queen of weapons”.
Among the weapons used were Minimi machine guns, light, medium, and heavy mortars, and IA2 5.56 rifles, with 100% national technology.
Besides the aircraft of the Army Aviation, the demonstration was supported by Guarani armored personnel carriers.
The Southeast Military Commander, Army General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva, highlighted the expeditionary capacity of the troops based in the state of São Paulo and the opportunity to celebrate the Day of the Infantry Weapon alongside the cadets from the Military Academy. “To be an infantryman is to be enthusiastic about soldier things, about simple things,” he highlighted.
