Boa Vista (RR) – On May 03 and 04, the 12th Mechanized Cavalry Squadron (12nd Mechanized Cavalry Squadron) of the 1st Jungle Infantry Brigade, held, in a pioneering way in the state of Roraima, the basic instruction shooting and zero correction of the Automated Repair X (REMAX), of the Armored Vehicle Transport of Medium Personnel on Wheels (VBTP-MSR), 6×6 Guarani. In the opportunity, the Squadron’s Armored Training Section performed the shooting with .50 machine guns with the seven vehicles equipped with the REMAX system.

The REMAX system is a remotely controlled weapon station that was developed based on Brazilian Army requirements through a partnership between ARES and the Army Technology Center (CTEx). REMAX supports 7.62mm and .50 caliber machine guns and allows aiming in elevation and direction of weaponry, observation, recognition and identification of targets during day and night. Noteworthy is the ability to shoot on the move, made possible by the automatic stabilization of the fix. The use of this military equipment represents an important increase in the military presence in the Amazon and, especially, in the defense of the northern border of the Brazilian territory in the context of the Armored Forces Program.

The Army’s Strategic Program Armored Forces aims, among others, to obtain armored vehicles on wheels and weapons and communications systems, contributing to modernize the Mechanized Cavalry (Cav Mec) and foster research, development, and innovation in the country.
