Brazilian army takes part in exercise at the Conference of American Armies

Brasília (DF) – The Conference of American Armies is a forum that aims to analyze, debate and exchange ideas and experiences related to matters of common interest in the field of defense, in order to increase collaboration and integration between armies and contribute to the security of member countries. In the 2024/2025 biennium, Mexico will be responsible for coordinating the Permanent Executive Secretariat of the Conference of American Armies (SEPCEA).

Between April 15 and 19, the Brazilian Army took part in the 1st Joint HF Radio Exercise using the means of the communications system of the Conference of American Armies (CAA). The activity allowed for the exchange of documents, graphics, videos and other routine files used by the Conference.

The exercise evaluated the CAA’s HF radio network as an alternative means of communication to increase the capabilities of the participating nations. The countries were divided into two zones: North (Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Canada, El Salvador, USA, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic) and South (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Venezuela, as well as Portugal and Spain), with Brazil assigned responsibility for the South zone.

The integration between these two zones and the countries divided into them was carried out by the Brazilian Army General Staff, under the coordination of the 5th Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, with technical support from the 7th Area Telematics Center.
