The Commander of the Army, General Tomás Miguel Ribeiro Paiva, spoke about the Army’s National Policies and Strategies. The cycle of lectures aims to promote quality knowledge on the subject of Defense, through analysis and debate of current issues, according to the demands of the Ministry of Defense.

In his lecture, the Commander addressed the Army’s mission of defending the homeland, guaranteeing constitutional powers, law and order. He also addressed the current operational context, the Army’s actions and its foundations. The general highlighted challenges such as the worsening climate crisis, organized transnational crime, increased technological dependence and political polarization in the world. “We must prepare the Ground Force to win in the face of these global scenarios. The Army Commander also emphasized six strategic programs for Brazil: Cyber Defense, Armored Forces, Astros, Army Aviation and Anti-Aircraft Defense. Finally, he highlighted some of the Land Force’s activities in Brazil and in partnership with other nations, such as Operation Ágata, Operation Poraquê; Operation Core 23, Paraná III, Yanomami, Carro-Pipa, among others.
