Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – Military personnel from the Rio de Janeiro War Arsenal and the Material Department completed the Platt manual turret semi-knockdown assembly course, held at the Platt military industry facilities in Sydney, Australia. The Brazilian team was composed of a captain and two lieutenant engineers and two sergeants from the Military Material cadre.

The Brazilian Army has a contract to acquire the Platt MR 550 manual weapons station, an armored platform with support for various weapons, such as machine guns and grenade launchers. Initially acquired to equip the Guarani vehicles, the Platt manual turret will also be employed on the 4X4 Lightweight Multitask Wheeled Armored Vehicle.

The training of military specialists in engineering and war material increases the efficiency and longevity of materials, in addition to providing rapid generation of the logistics chain, the development of maintenance facilities and the increase of the Manufacturing System in the Army’s Armored Forces Program.

With the training carried out in Australia, Arsenal de Guerra do Rio acquires the expertise for semi-knockdown assembly of armored weapon stations. Now, the next challenge is the preparation and validation of facilities for the assembly and maintenance of this equipment.
