Anti-aircraft missile shooting in the Amazon jungle is carried out in Operation Sagitta PimusAnti-aircraft missile shooting in the Amazon jungle is carried out in Operation Sagitta Pimus

Manaus (AM) – Service members from the 12th Jungle Anti-Aircraft Artillery Group fired the RBS 70 missile during training. The exercise is part of Operation Sagitta Pimus, which is conducting its jungle phase in August at the Amazon Military Command.

Under the coordination of the Anti-Aircraft Defense Command, the training included the simulation of anti-aircraft defense, the strategic occupation of aeromobile positions and, finally, the actual firing of the missile, carried out at the Jungle Warfare Instruction Center.

The RBS-70 missile demonstrates good results in the Amazon jungle environment, thanks to its ability to operate under different weather conditions. Also, its firing platform allows the weapon to operate on board different vehicles and aircraft of the Brazilian Army, which makes the response to air attacks agile and effective.

Operation Sagitta Pimus is a major anti-aircraft defense exercise that takes place in several stages, with the aim of qualifying Army and Air Force military personnel for the defense of Brazilian airspace in each of the country’s regions. In its jungle phase, the operation was successful in all exercises, from identifying the threat, locating targets to the actual firing of the RBS-70 missile.
