Fort Leonard Wood, MO (USA) – On October 14, Engineer Captain Rubens Bitan da Costa Silva concluded the U.S. Army Captain Career Course, at the U.S. Army School of Engineering. Captain Bitan was awarded the Honor Graduate diploma, for achieving a grade above 85% in all the evaluations of the course.

The U.S. Army Captain Career Course is designed to prepare officers for the positions of Company Commander, Battalion Staff Officer, and Brigade Staff Officer. The course lasted 22 weeks and had the participation of 86 students, being 76 officers from the U.S. Army and 10 international officers from Brazil, Bangladesh, Croatia, South Korea, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The main activities developed during the course were General Engineering planning, military decision making process, troop leadership procedures, multi-domain operations planning, military leadership training, defensive and offensive operations planning. A long duration exercise with emphasis on brigade level operations planning was also carried out, with the purpose of enabling the student-captain to exercise leadership in combat.
