Monte Caseros (Argentina) – With the launching of Operation Arandu on Monday, 31, military personnel from the Brazilian and Argentine armies carried out a series of joint activities. In locations near the Argentine municipality of Monte Caseros, specialized troops from both armies conducted and conferred instructions on their combat materials and techniques.

At the Duque de Caxias Operational Education Center, Brazilian and Argentine service members shared a briefing about an air-mobile attack exercise that will be carried out later this week. Nearby, members of the Brazilian Army’s aviation unit were conducting airmobile boarding instruction for Argentine service members. On another occasion, the Argentinians passed on techniques and knowledge to the Brazilians.

In the Argentine municipality of Mercedes, service members from the Paratrooper Infantry Brigade conducted a jump exercise from an Argentine aircraft – and with Argentine instructors. In contrast, Argentine paratroopers jumped from a Brazilian aircraft under the guidance of Brazilian Army jump masters. The armored troops of both countries also exchanged knowledge: the Argentines learned about the Guarani armored vehicle; and the Brazilians were introduced to the TAM.

In the Fast Hope helicopter landing exercise, service members from the Special Operations Command performed techniques together with Argentine service members. This action took place during rappelling, in which members of the 12th Light Infantry Aeromobile Brigade performed the descents simultaneously with specialists from the neighboring country.
