On July 21, continuing its individual qualification instruction, the 34th Mechanized Infantry Battalion (34th BI Mec) held an Adaptation to Mechanized Infantry instruction for the soldiers of the variable personnel.

In the opportunity the soldiers identified the main components and the organic material of the Guarani medium armored personnel carrier on wheels.

The Brazilian Army, some time ago, began to question the need to modernize the way it fought and the Mechanized Infantry presented itself as a more efficient way to do this.

Since the beginning of the year 2000, the Army Command and General Staff School began to study and employ the Mechanized Infantry Brigade in its school subjects and post-graduation projects. In 2005, the Army Staff held at the Officers Improvement School a seminar to discuss the need, opportunity and measures to create a new structure for the Brazilian Infantry.

Time passed, ideas matured and in 2010 institutional measures were finally taken to give life to the Mechanized Infantry through the creation of Bda Inf Mec, by transformation of the already existing Bda Inf Mtz in the Brazilian Army.
