Buenos Aires (Argentina) – During the week of August 29th to September 2nd, the XV Bilateral Staff Conference (CBEM) took place in Argentina, between the Brazilian Army and the Argentine Army, with the purpose of establishing bilateral exchange understandings between the Land Forces of both countries, in the fields of operations, instruction, intelligence, education, among others. The highlight were the cooperation agreements referring to the training of the Argentine Army regarding the 6×6 Guarani – Medium Wheeled Armored Personnel Carrier (VBTP-MR).
The team from the 5th Army General Staff, under the command of Division General Paulo Roberto Rodrigues Pimentel, had the participation of Colonel Dick Estevam Luconi Marques, Colonel Maurício de Aguiar Villar, and Lieutenant Francisco Flávio Nóbrega de Sousa. On the Argentine side, the meeting was in charge of the General Direction of Organization and Doctrine and was headed by Brigadier General Gustavo Javier Barceló.
Besides participating in the bilateral conference, General Pimentel also had the opportunity to meet with the Ambassador of Brazil in the Argentine Republic, Reinaldo Salgado, and with the Sub-Chief of the General Staff of the Argentine Army, Division General Diego Martín López Blanco. During his stay in the friendly nation, he can also visit the 601 and 602 Arsenals Battalions – to see the TAM 2C Project, the “Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo”, and the “Colegio Militar de la Nación” – an Argentine Army officers’ training school.
