UK Government to use Motorola Solutions bodycams for Prison SystemUK Government to use Motorola Solutions bodycams for Prison System

Motorola Solutions has been selected to supply 13,000 VB400 model bodycams to Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service officers across England and Wales.

By capturing video and audio evidence, the system will help increase officer safety, as well as trust and transparency for both staff and inmates. The VB400 bodycam offers high-quality video and audio capture and is equipped with an automatic pre-recording feature, helping to ensure every interaction is recorded from start to finish.

When off-duty, agents return the cameras to their docks, which automatically upload and store the day’s footage to the Video Manager evidence management platform, providing an intuitive, seamless workflow.

The bodycam’s lightweight, rugged design, wide-angle field of view and 12-hour battery life help correctional officers stay focused on their tasks while encouraging positive interaction and behavior between officers and inmates.

“We have seen a growing trend in the use of video security technology in prison facilities to help frontline staff carry out their duties in a secure and transparent manner,” says Fergus Mayne, country manager, Motorola Solutions for the UK and Ireland. “The UK government’s investment in bodycams for officers in all public sector prisons in England and Wales highlights the great importance of this technology in helping to maintain security across prison operations.”

Motorola Solutions has a strong track record of innovation in video security, with significant investments in the UK, including the company’s innovation center in Edinburgh, where advanced video technologies are designed and developed and trusted by public safety agencies and organizations around the world.
