Monte Caseros (Argentina) – On another day of activities of Operation Arandu, troops from specialized units of the Brazilian and Argentine Armies gathered to carry out various activities on the ground in the region of Monte Caseros, Argentina. On that occasion, the Commander of the Brazilian Army, General Tomás Miguel Miné Ribeiro Paiva, accompanied the actions with the Chief of Staff of the Argentine Army, Lieutenant General Guillermo Olegario Pereda, and with the Argentine Minister of Defense, Jorge Taiana.

Among the activities planned for Wednesday were the march of the Armored Task Force with Brazilian and Argentine vehicles; paratrooper jumps from both countries; the shooting of a combined squad made up of eight TAM armored vehicles from Argentina and five Guaranis from Brazil; an attack by special operations troops from both countries; and a crossing of Brazilian and Argentine armored vehicles over a bridge structured by the Argentine Army engineering. In Operation Arandu, the actions make up a simulated exercise that brings together the two armies in a single combined troop.

General Tomás stressed the importance of the exercise to strengthen Brazil’s partnership with Argentina “It is a great satisfaction to be here and to have the possibility to watch so many mobilized means, so much effort rewarded. Our troops only gain from this’. Lieutenant General Pereda also highlighted the importance of the operation. “It is a process that matures us both as a nation and as an army, because it provides us with trust, mutual knowledge and allows our soldiers to know and share this campaign experience.”

Combined exercise

Until August 4, the Brazilian and Argentine armies are conducting Operation Arandu, an exercise between the two forces aimed at consolidating military cooperation between the two countries and strengthening the bonds of unity, cooperation, and friendship between the armies of the two nations. With the participation of 300 soldiers from the Brazilian Army and 348 from the Argentine Army, the operation will include the use of aircraft and armored vehicles from both countries.

From the Brazilian Army, military personnel from the Army General Staff, the Land Operations Command, the Southern Military Command, the Army Social Communication Center, the 2nd Mechanized Cavalry Brigade, the 12th Light Infantry Brigade (Aeromobile), the Paratrooper Infantry Brigade, the Army Aviation Command and the Special Operations Command will participate.
