Rio de Janeiro (RJ) – On January 12, 2023, the Brazilian Joint Center for Peace Operations (CCOPAB) held a ceremony in honor of the Brazilians who lost their lives as a result of the earthquake that occurred on January 12, 2010, in Port-au-Prince, capital of Haiti, during their deployment with the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

The activity was held at the Haiti Memorial, a monument that honors the Brazilian blue helmets who lost their lives in the earthquake, with the roll call of the deceased Brazilians, followed by the execution of the Silence touch and the affixation of a corbel of flowers next to the monument.

During the earthquake, 18 Brazilian Army soldiers, one military policeman from the Federal District and two UN civil servants, as well as doctor Zilda Arns, lost their lives.
