Santa Maria (RS) – A check of the individual and collective readiness of the personnel that make up the 6th Armored Infantry Brigade’s Readiness Force (FORPRON) was carried out in the first week of February. The operational readiness exercise brought together around 1,000 soldiers and 200 vehicles, especially the Leopard 1A5 BR combat vehicles and the Gepard anti-aircraft defense system.

The Readiness Force is made up of troops who have undergone rigorous training and have been certified as a rapid response unit for carrying out Land Force missions. In cases of need, FORPRON (an acronym for Força de Prontidão – Readiness Force) can be deployed in external defense operations and to safeguard Brazilian interests abroad.

The Operational Readiness Force of the 6th Armored Infantry Brigade was certified throughout 2023, in a process divided into three phases: preparation, certification and readiness. Once all the phases were completed, a total of around 1,300 soldiers were certified.

Operational readiness at the beginning of 2024 is intended to bring together all the readiness capabilities of this large unit in case of use in real operations. During the activity, it was possible to check the individual readiness of each soldier and each fraction, as well as the availability of the Force’s organic military equipment. This operational readiness serves to guarantee the troops’ readiness for use in a scenario of real need.
