Manaus (AM) and Marabá (PA) – Internships held by the Brazilian Army in the Amazon in recent days have prepared hundreds of soldiers to survive and operate in a jungle environment and to defend the Amazon. In March, the Jungle Warfare Training Center (CIGS) and the 23rd Jungle Infantry Brigade (23rd Bda Inf Sl) concluded training courses that instructed 212 soldiers.

The Jungle Adaptation Training Course (EASl) conducted by the CIGS trained 106 soldiers, including officers, warrant officers and sergeants who had recently arrived in the Amazon Military Command (CMA) area, as well as two members of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN). Held at the CIGS instructional bases, the training course included instructions on obtaining food of animal and plant origin, sniping, orientation in a jungle environment, methods of obtaining water and fire, shooting game, building improvised shelters, hunting and fishing traps and survival techniques.

The closing ceremony was marked by a graduation ceremony in the CIGS Pioneers Courtyard, presided over by the Military Commander of the Amazon, Army General Ricardo Augusto Ferreira Costa Neves. On that occasion, awards were presented to the soldiers who had excelled in their internship activities.

The 23rd Jungle Infantry Brigade, through the 52nd Jungle Infantry Battalion (52nd BIS), held the 2024 Jungle Life Adaptation Internship (EAVS) for 106 soldiers who had recently arrived at the Marabá and Tucuruí garrisons. The internship consisted of instructions on building shelters, obtaining water and fire, hunting and fishing traps, as well as obtaining food of animal and plant origin.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Brigadier General Eduardo da Veiga Cabral. On the occasion, the highlights of the course were awarded and the trainees received their completion diplomas and jungle badges from their families.
