Brasília (DF) – From July 3 to 7, the National School of Cyber Defense (ENaDCiber) conducted, for the first time, the Cyber Defense Internship for General Staff Officers (QEMA), aiming to qualify Brazilian Army officers to occupy positions and perform functions at decision-making and advisory levels, which require knowledge and practices in cyber defense, with a view to planning and executing cyber actions in support of military operations.
Simultaneously, the same training is being conducted in the distance learning (DL) modality for officers of the General Staff serving in the country’s various military garrisons. A total of four general officers and 16 colonels were trained in the Brasilia garrison, and 20 senior officers are being trained in the distance learning format, with an expected end date of September 2, 2023.
The Internship began with the Inaugural Class, given by the Commander of Cyber Defense, Lieutenant General Alan Denilson Lima Costa, also broadcast live to the non-face-to-face trainees. Afterwards, the Chief of the Cyber Defense Center, Brigadier General Luís Carlos Soares de Souza, gave a lecture on The Employment of CDCiber in Support of Operations, and the Commander of ENaDCiber, Colonel Sandro Silva Cordeiro, addressed the topic of Human Resources Training in the Cyber Sector.
Throughout the week, the trainees had contact with the following contents: Fundamentals, Organization and Employment of Cyber in support of Operations, Legal Aspects, Joint Doctrine and Cyber Actions, culminating with a demonstration of the Capabilities of the CDCiber Cyber Operations Center and the Joint Cyber Warfare Detachment.
At the Closing Ceremony, which was attended by the Deputy Chief of the Department of Science and Technology (DCT), Lieutenant General Carlos Alberto Dahmer, the 20 officers received their diplomas and badges, and a plaque was unveiled that will eternalize their names as members of the pioneering class, in the gallery of Courses and Internships conducted by ENaDCiber.
