Montevideo (Uruguay) On November 21, at the headquarters of the Infantry Brigade Nr 1, the farewell ceremony took place for the Uruguayan contingent that embarked to join the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

The Brazilian Captains Luciana da Costa Moreira and Tiago de Souza Mattano are part of the staff of the Uruguayan Battalion, which will remain for approximately one year in the mission in that African country.

The participation of Brazilian military personnel in this type of mission increases staff training, consolidates cooperation between the two friendly nations, and fulfills the Army’s Strategic Objectives, among which is to contribute to international stability, peace, and security, in missions under the aegis of the United Nations.
