The Commander of the Brazilian Army, Army General Freire Gomes, has been on an official visit to the United States (USA) since July 10. The visit includes an official agenda with the U.S. Army and the follow-up of the activities of the Army Agency in the USA and of the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington (CEBW). The visit will last until July 15.

On July 12th, the Commander was received in Arlington, Virginia, by the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, Lieutenant General Walter E. Piatt. The reception included a wreath laying ceremony at the grave of the unknown soldier at Arlington Cemetery. Following this, General Freire Gomes conducted a tour of the Pentagon facilities, Headquarters of the U.S. Army.

Activities throughout the week include visits to the United States Army Forces Command and the United States Army Special Operations Command, both at Fort Bragg, and to the Brazilian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN).
