Mexico City – On February 20, at the Heroico Colegio Militar in Mexico City, the Commander of the Brazilian Army took part in the Opening Meeting of the Conference of American Armies (CAA), Cycle XXXVI. The meeting was attended by 23 delegations from CAA member countries and organizations.

Division General Celestino Ávila Astudillo, Commander of the Mexican Army, current President of the CAA, took the opportunity to award the commanders of the armies present with the Military Distinction Medal of the Army of Mexico.

During the plenary session, the Commander of the Brazilian Army stressed the importance of cooperation and integration between the members and praised the CAA as an important forum for discussion and military diplomacy.

Accompanied by General Américo, 5th Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, General Tomás held bilateral meetings with the delegations of Nicaragua, Guyana, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, the Inter-American Defense Board and Suriname.
