Representatives of the Ministry of Defense (MD) of Brazil and Egypt promoted, between June 5 and 8, the First Meeting of the Egypt-Brazil Military Cooperation Committee. During the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, the guidelines of the “Plan for Bilateral Cooperation between the Armed Forces of Brazil and Egypt for the period 2022 to 2023” were discussed.
In the scope of military cooperation, the countries signed agreements in the areas of military education, joint training, military engineering, health, equipment maintenance, and defense products, among others.
The Deputy Chief of International Affairs of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Sérgio Rezende de Queiroz, stressed the importance of strengthening relations with countries like Egypt: “This meeting helped discuss strategic issues in the area of Defense, which represent common interests of cooperation between the Armed Forces of both countries, providing an increase in the partnership with this friendly nation and an exchange of experiences in various military areas, intensifying even more the relations between Brazil and Egypt”, he emphasized.
The Brazilian delegation was welcomed by the Head of the Strategic Planning Section of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Yasser Abdel Moez Al-Khatib. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit industrial complexes in the Defense area and the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
