The Ministry of Defense (MD), through a delegation headed by Secretary-General Sergio José Pereira, participated in the Indo Defense Expo and Forum, in Jakarta, Indonesia, which closed on Saturday (05). The biennial technology exhibition, the largest in Southeast Asia, had a Brazilian Defense Industrial Base (BID) booth, where equipment from the sector was displayed for commercialization. The presence of Brazil in the event contributed to expand cooperation with Asian countries, access new markets and attract investments.
In all, more than 30 pavilions installed at the site received about 35 thousand visitors of various nationalities. The IDB’s booth included 18 exhibiting companies and was attended by 28 businessmen, the largest Brazilian delegation to participate in Indo Defense. The action resulted from a partnership between the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Brazilian Defense and Security Materials Industry Association, and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
Secretary-General Sergio José Pereira invited those present to the 6th edition of the IDB-Brazil Show, to be held from December 6th to 8th. He underlined the willingness to develop joint projects. “We are sure that we will be able to cooperate with doctrine, training and technological innovation that will improve our strategic autonomy. We have been developing defense technology for more than four decades and we are ready to establish partnerships, so that we can take advantage of common strategic projects,” stressed the Secretary-General of the MD.
The fair also enabled the strengthening of agreements between Brazil and Indonesia, with representatives from both countries seeking to consolidate understandings. The Brazilian delegation was completed by the Secretary of Defense Products, General Duizit Brito, and the Director of the Department of Commercial Promotion, Brigadier Lima Junior.
