Manaus (AM) – On the afternoon of Monday the 23rd, the 4th Special Border Platoon (Surucucu-RR), of the Roraima Border Command / 7th Jungle Infantry Battalion, of the Amazon Military Command (CMA), received the release of 6.5 tons of foodstuffs in fulfillment of the mission to support the inter-ministerial actions aimed at assisting the Communities of the Yanomami Indigenous Land in Roraima. The launch was carried out by a KC-390 aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force.
The cargo, divided into two lots made up of 42 food baskets (712 kilos) and 36 food baskets (614 kilos), was prepared by Brazilian Army soldiers from the Parachute Folding, Parachute Maintenance and Air Supply Battalion (B DOMPSA) of the Parachute Infantry Brigade. On the ground, military personnel were mobilized to collect the material, which will be distributed in the coming days.
Brazilian Army participates in a humanitarian aid mission to the Yanomami Indigenous Land
The Brazilian Army is participating in the mission to support inter-ministerial actions to assist the communities of the Yanomami Indigenous Land, in Roraima, through the 4th Special Border Platoon (Surucucu-RR), of the Roraima Border Command / 7th Jungle Infantry Battalion, of the Amazon Military Command (CMA). The mission began this Sunday, the 22nd, with Army troops providing logistical services, health care, and the distribution of basic food baskets.
The indigenous communities in the Surucucu region constantly receive assistance from the Brazilian Army and, since December 2022, the support actions have intensified. Last December 31, 14 Yanomami children were rescued for medical attention in Boa Vista (RR) and, as of January 17, the 4th Special Border Platoon has been supporting the actions of the Special Indigenous Health Secretariat (SESAI) in the region.
The mission is being carried out with the joint action of the Brazilian Air Force and the Army’s 4th Aviation Battalion, which are providing air transportation of personnel and cargo to the Surucucu region. More than 2.5 tons of food have been delivered by H-60 Black Hawk and C-98 Caravan aircraft. The aeromedical evacuation of 21 indigenous people from the area has also been carried out.
