The Ministry of Defense (MD) promoted, this Wednesday (7), as part of the BID Brazil Show, a live demonstration of strategic defense projects of the country. The presentation was given to a delegation of 50 national and foreign authorities from 14 countries, during a visit to the Army Artillery Command (Cmdo Art Ex), at the Santa Barbara Fort, in Formosa (GO).

The Ministry of Defense (MD) promoted, this Wednesday (7), as part of the 7th BID Brazil Show, a live demonstration of strategic defense projects of the country. The presentation was given to a delegation of 50 national and foreign authorities, from 14 countries, during a visit to the Army Artillery Command (Cmdo Art Ex), at the Santa Bárbara Fort, in Formosa (GO).

The group included the ambassadors of Burkina Faso, Mali and Indonesia; representatives of the embassies of Colombia, Panama, Tanzania, Vietnam, and other countries such as Benin, Ecuador, Morocco and Suriname; as well as high-ranking military officers and businessmen from Brazil.

Initially, the delegation attended lectures by companies that manufacture defense products, such as Iveco, Ares, Condor and Avibrás. Next, the visitors got to know the vehicles of the ASTROS Multiple Rocket Launching System and Command and Control Station (CCP), manufactured by the Brazilian industry Avibrás, and the Guarani armored vehicles, for attack and troop transport, produced by Iveco.

Other highlights were the launching of missiles of various calibers and the motorized parade of a battery, both part of the ASTROS System. In the Missile and Rocket Artillery Training Center pavilion, visitors watched a computer simulation on giant screens of multiple missile launches from vehicles on the battlefield.

The tour also included the actual presentation of Condor’s non-lethal products, such as tear gas bombs, pepper spray, foam jet, and Taser guns. And, also, a real demonstration, in open field, of the performance of the armored Guarani in attack simulations, presenting a remotely controlled weapon system developed by the Brazilian Army in partnership with Ares.

BID Brazil Show – The seventh edition of the Mostra brought together more than 3 thousand participants and 90 exhibitors. When making an assessment of the three days of the event, the Secretary of Defense Products, General Luis Antônio Duizit Brito, highlighted the positive performance of the Department in the consolidation of the BID incentive. “The meeting strengthened, even more, partnerships between public and private companies, as well as associations. This allows the promotion and the increase of the national defense industrial base as an inducer of technological autonomy and sovereignty, as well as the generation of jobs and income for our country,” he said.

During the activities on Wednesday (7) at the event, the MD also presented a thematic forum on Defense. Highlight for the panel about the Special Bidding Term (TLE), which facilitates the acquisition of Defense Products (PROD) and Strategic Defense Products (PED) . The special bidding modality, previously available only to the Ministry and the Armed Forces, can now be accessed by other entities, such as the Secretaries of Security.
