For the first time, the KC-390 Millennium of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), an aircraft piloted by the First Squadron of the First Transport Group (1°/1°GT) – Gordo Squadron, performed a cargo launch to Antarctica.
The mission, aboard the aircraft, which has been part of the FAB fleet for three years, began with take-off from Galeão Air Base (BAGL), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) on June 27 at 8:23 a.m. (Brasília time) towards the Comandante Ferraz Antarctic Station, to support the Brazilian Antarctic Program (PROANTAR).
