An international exercise conducted jointly between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay from July 24-27, Operation SAREX 2023 was hosted by the Foz do Iguaçu Airspace Control Detachment (DTCEA-FI). The training consisted of simulated rescues in cases of air accidents.

“In view of the need for better coordination in the event of an aeronautical accident in the Triple Frontier, this exercise aims to develop an optimization of procedures and activities, always aiming at the best service to the Search and Rescue Service (SAR) in the region. It is an opportunity for operational exchange and closer ties of friendship between the participating countries,” explained the Head of the Brazilian Aeronautical Technical Mission in Paraguay (MTAB), Colonel Ricardo da Silva Miranda, who opened the exercise.

The event was attended by representatives from the Second Integrated Air Defense and Air Traffic Control Center (CINDACTA 2), the MTAB, Paraguay’s Civil Aeronautics Directorate (DINAC), and the Argentine Air Navigation Company (EANA). Throughout the training, simulated air accidents were carried out in the territory of each country.

“Hosting the first SAREX Exercise at our facilities is a source of satisfaction and pride for DTCEA-FI. We are grateful for the opportunity and happy with the presence of friends from neighboring countries,” said DTCEA-FI Commander, Major Olívio Martini Marangon.
