On Wednesday (14), the new operational vehicles recently acquired by the Brazilian Navy (MB) were delivered to the Operational Sector of the Marine Corps (CFN): the Armored Light Armored Vehicle on 4X4 wheels JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle), the 4X4 UNIMOG U5000 and the TNE ¾ Ton L-200 Triton militarized vehicle. The arrival of the vehicles took place during a ceremony held at the Centro de Instrução Almirante Sylvio de Camargo (CIASC), located on Ilha do Governador, in Rio de Janeiro. They represent the CFN’s efforts to equip itself with modern means to maintain its capacity to act in the most diverse situations, ensuring operational readiness, ready-use conditions, and the amphibious and expeditionary character.

According to the Commander of the Marine Armored Battalion, Frigate Captain (Marine) Rodrigo Ramos Ferreira, the need to acquire these new resources is aimed at maintaining the various capabilities of the CFN. “These means are the most modern we have in the world; they are also used by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marines. The goal is to maintain a ready-use expeditionary troop, a reliable troop for any type of operation.

The JLTV vehicle especially meets the demand for the use of these vehicles in urban environments and provides adequate protection to the Marine Operational Groups in the most different missions in Brazil and abroad. The armored vehicle will contribute to the performance in naval war, peace and Law and Order operations, humanitarian assistance, and support to civil defense.

Marine sergeants are graduated

On the occasion, 423 military personnel graduated from the Special Qualification Course for Promotion to Sergeant, and 25 students from the Marine Corps (CFN) Music Sergeants Training Course were sworn in to the National Flag. Among the graduates there are three foreigners: one from Cape Verde and two from São Tomé and Príncipe.

According to the Commander of the CIASC, Rear Admiral (Marine) Paulo Roberto Saraiva, today is an important day, both for the military and for the MB. “The Navy today gains a class of more than 400 new sergeants, they are very important professionals for the Marine Corps. After six months of a very demanding course, which certainly took a significant amount of time away from family life, this moment marks a great achievement. It is the building of a promising future in the career and extending that to their families. For us, it is a day of celebration, achievement, and congratulation for the success of the training process.
