Nauru 500C performs vertical takeoff in the P-120 Ocean Patrol Vessel (NPaOc) “Amazonas

The Navy Aeronautical Directorate (DAerM), with the support of the Maritime Operations and Blue Amazon Protection Command (COMPAAz), the Ocean Patrol Vessel (NPaOc) “Amazonas”, the Air Force Command and subordinated military organizations, conducted, from April 11 to 13, in the Naval Air Base of São Pedro da Aldeia and in the NPaOc “Amazonas”, the demonstration of the Nauru 500C Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), from the Brazilian company XMobots, with the purpose of verifying the capabilities and characteristics of the SARP for land and embarked operations.

The Nauru 500C is an ANAC certified VTOL (Vertical Take off and Landing) ARP, which eliminates the need for launch and recovery equipment and is capable of performing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations. Designed for BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) operations above 400ft, the Nauru 500C has a rated autonomy of 4 hours, range of up to 60 km, length of 1.86 m, wingspan of 3.64 m, and maximum take-off weight of 25 kg. The RPAS can be configured with stabilized electro-optical (EO) and thermal infrared (LWIR) cameras.

The demonstration carried out by the company XMobots contributes to the establishment of requirements for future acquisitions of the RPAS-E procurement program, foreseen in the Navy’s Strategic Portfolio, and for the development of Strategic Products by the Defense Industrial Base (BID).
