Entering the military career is a dream for many. This Saturday (11), the Dom Pedro I Class of the Naval School, in Rio de Janeiro, received the Swordfish, symbol of the midshipman, an important step in the military. The ceremony took place at the institution and was attended by the Minister of Defense, Paulo Sérgio Nogueira.

The Oath to the Flag and Sword ceremony was attended by 168 young men – 12 of them women – from several states in Brazil, as well as from Cape Verde and Cameroon.

The Naval School is the oldest higher education institution in the country. It teaches and trains officers for the Navy, Marine Corps, and Marine Lieutenant Corps. It has, currently, about 750 Aspirants. Through the development of complementary activities, besides the academic military-naval training inherent to the career, the institution enhances the physical, civic, and cultural aspects.
