During LAAD Security & Defence 2024, the main meeting of the South American Security and Defense sector, which takes place from April 2 to 4, 2024, at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo, the IX LAAD Security Seminar is also scheduled, which will bring together experts, businesspeople and public authorities to discuss advances and challenges in public security.
In addition to the exhibition area, with the participation of more than 150 exhibiting brands from 20 countries, the seminar will occupy the three days of the fair with modules on Security and Defense, Public Security and Corporate Security.
The program will cover macro-themes such as the government’s proposals and expectations for public security in 2024, taking into account the public security scenario in the country/region, ongoing government policies to tackle crime, investments in security infrastructure and technology, the fight against organized crime and the forecast of resources for the purchase and maintenance of equipment and operations in general.
Another subject to be addressed is the outlook for the evolution of defense, considering the use of technological resources, legislative adjustments, training prospects and new training proposals for defense professionals, as well as strategies and equipment in the fight against wars and terrorist threats and the integration of intelligence systems at the national level.
The theme of smart cities in Brazil and their positive impact on public security will also be debated, with a focus on how to structure a sustainable security ecosystem; the Brazilian Charter for Smart Cities and its positive impact on the proper organization and functioning of state security, the 17 goals for achieving Agenda 2030 of the UN Charter, resources and technologies applied in smart cities, as well as funding for the construction of smart cities.
In addition, the evolution of cyber threats and the strategies adopted to protect critical systems and confidential information, biometric security to strengthen public security, the ethical dilemmas surrounding DNA cloning and the use of biotechnology in criminal investigations will be the topics of another panel at the seminar.
On the last day of LAAD, the seminar will be dedicated to the analysis of practical cases on organizational culture and people management; programs for risk and crisis management; technological evolution in Corporate Security; and the critical infrastructure sector within the Internal Security Office.

According to Sergio Jardim, one of the strengths of the event is the presence of international buyers. LAAD 2024 is expected to host 650 meetings between exhibiting companies and official delegations coming to the country in search of technological innovation and solutions for security and defense.
