The event was attended by civilian and military experts linked to the area of metrological reliability

The Institute for Promotion and Industrial Coordination (IFI), through the Aerospace Metrological Reliability Division (CMA), promoted, between July 4 and 6, the XV Seminar on Aerospace Metrology (SEMETRA). The event, aimed at civilian and military specialists linked to the area of metrological reliability, was attended by more than 150 people and featured speakers from the most diverse teaching and research organizations from all over the country.

Parallel to the event, companies in the sector set up stands and gave lectures on the current stage of the national metrological segment, stimulating and making it feasible for government and private organizations in Brazil to contact the state of the art of measurement science.

“The main purpose of SEMETRA was the exchange of information and techniques between the various links that make up the Aerospace Metrology System [SISMETRA], as well as the dissemination of updated and relevant metrological knowledge,” explained the Head of CMA, Lieutenant Colonel Sérgio Baptista de Oliveira. “The seminar was also very important for laboratories to update themselves on the metrology area, for companies to disseminate new technologies and equipment and to update information in the academic sector,” he added.

Program

The event was opened by the Director General of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), Air Lieutenant Brigadier Maurício Augusto Silveira de Medeiros, who highlighted the importance of metrology in obtaining more tangible and reliable results.

Throughout the three days of activities, participants were also able to follow presentations from institutions such as the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (INMETRO), Metrological Network of the State of São Paulo (REMESP), Santa Casa Hospital of São Paulo, São José dos Campos Technological Park, National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Institute for Advanced Studies (IEAv), Special Group for Flight Inspection (GEIV) and Brazilian Space Agency (AEB), in addition to DCTA and IFI.
