The Air Force Academy (AFA), based in Pirassununga (SP), received, on July 3, nine foreign Cadets for another edition of academic exchange. Five Cadets from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), from the United States, and four Cadets from the Escuela Militar de Aviación Marco Fidel Suárez (EMAVI), from Colombia, began a period of academic, military and intercultural learning, which will continue until December 15 of this year.

During the exchange period, the foreign cadets will be immersed in the Brazilian academic and military experience, following the routine and assimilating the training doctrine of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB). In addition to the theoretical disciplines of study, the military will participate in field activities, enriching their experiences and improving essential skills in the military context.

In order to contemplate reciprocity between the friendly air forces in the context of this academic exchange, the Air Force Academy also sent cadets to partner institutions abroad. Six Cadets were selected to follow the academic environment of USAFA, while four others embarked for EMAVI, in Colombia.

“This symbiosis of knowledge and experiences is a testament to AFA’s continued commitment to strengthening ties with other nations and enriching the learning of its cadets, who, as future leaders, will be catalysts for the progress and development of the Brazilian Air Force,” explained AFA’s Head of Teaching Division, Colonel Rodrigo Silva de Andrade.

Benefits

The exchange of experiences provided by the exchange represents a unique opportunity for both foreign cadets and AFA. The young people will have the possibility to improve their academic and military skills, incorporating differentiated technical and tactical knowledge for their future careers.

At the same time, the educational institutions involved benefit from enriching the Academy’s perspective and deepening their understanding of various practices and approaches adopted in other countries. Cadet Aviator Renan Pavan Sá, from the 3rd Squadron of the Air Force Cadet Corps, who will spend the next academic semester in the USA, says that the relevance of the exchange goes beyond the purely academic aspects, promoting a valuable and intense cultural exchange, in addition to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the countries involved. “The coexistence between Cadets of different nationalities enables understanding and respect for the singularities of each culture, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and cooperation that lasts far beyond the exchange period,” said the military.

The initiative is the result of bilateral cooperation agreements between friendly nations and is coordinated at AFA by the International Programs Section (SPI). The exchanges strengthen the importance of international cooperation and the search for shared knowledge. SPI is responsible for harmonizing administrative activities in close collaboration with FAB organizations, such as the Air Force General Staff (EMAER) and the Directorate of Education (DIRENS), as well as host schools and within the Academy itself, ensuring the excellence of this enriching educational process.
