Event aims to expand the capabilities of the Armed Forces and strengthen the Defense Industrial Base, through the presentation and discussion of projects
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB), represented by the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), participated in the 20th Meeting of Science, Technology and Innovation of Defense Interest Projects (REPID), organized by the Ministry of Defense (MD), from July 11 to 13. The meeting was held at the Army Technology Center (CTEx), in Rio de Janeiro, and had the purpose of expanding the capabilities of the Armed Forces and strengthening the Defense Industrial Base, through the presentation and discussion of projects.
The event was attended by the Minister of Science and Technology, Paulo Alvim, the Secretary of Defense Products (SEPROD) and President of REPID, Marcos Degaut, and Directors of the CT&I Sectorial Management Bodies of the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Army and the Brazilian Air Force.
On the occasion, DCTA presented some of the projects of the Air Force Command (COMAER), considered as integrators or interoperable, under the REPID, in addition to seeking greater interaction and synergy with the Science, Technology and Innovation Institution of the Ministry of Defense (ICTMD), the Brazilian Navy and the Brazilian Army.
The Director General of DCTA, Lieutenant Brigadier Maurício Augusto Silveira de Medeiros, spoke about the importance of the event. “The REPID is more than an opportunity to discuss projects, it is a way to learn the peculiarities and ways to obtain, from the funding agencies for research and development, such as FNDCT / FINEP and EMBRAPII, funding sources of resources essential to our CT&I projects, and the chance to exchange lessons learned on the challenges of developing products and defense applications, permeated with critical technologies and generally not available in the Brazilian Industrial Park, “he said.
REPID
The Meeting of Science, Technology and Innovation Projects of Defense Interest (REPID – Reunião de Projetos de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação de Interesse da Defesa) takes place annually under the coordination of the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DECTI) of the Secretariat of Defense Products (SEPROD) of the Ministry of Defense. The event is attended by authorities from the Ministry of Defense, as well as from the Single Forces and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI).
The REPID is held in rotation by the three Singular Forces. The next edition will be hosted by the Brazilian Air Force in July 2023, at the facilities of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology, in São José dos Campos (SP).
