Company reaches milestone towards certification of its aircraft

Eve Air Mobility (“Eve”) announces the release of the airworthiness criteria for its eVTOL for public consultation. The Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) has made the criteria available, representing a fundamental milestone in the certification process and a significant step forward in the development of the aircraft.

The airworthiness criteria proposed by ANAC are subject to industry consultation until mid-February 2024. After this period, the regulatory agency will analyze the feedback received, considering potential changes to the criteria, and then reveal the final certification basis. Once the criteria have been finalized, Eve and ANAC will focus on the means of compliance to be considered for eVTOL certification. As previously stated, ANAC is the certifying authority for Eve’s eVTOL project.

The publication of the airworthiness criteria marks a fundamental step in Eve’s journey towards the certification of its aircraft, and the opportunity for public comment favours the harmonization of certification bases between the various industry players and the various regulatory authorities. This process is in line with Eve’s goal of obtaining the vehicle type certificate issued by ANAC, as the certifying authority, and having this certification recognized by other regulatory bodies around the world, where the eVTOL will be operated,” says Luiz Valentini, Eve’s chief technology officer.

Eve formalized the process for obtaining the Type Certificate (TC) for its eVTOL with ANAC in February 2022. The aircraft certification process follows the procedures for obtaining a TC for “special class category” aircraft, adhering to the airworthiness requirements described in the current ANAC Regulations and other stipulated criteria.

In a key step towards global recognition, Eve also formalized CT validation with the US Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) this year and is committed to achieving simultaneous validation.

With a holistic approach to its eVTOL project, Eve, in partnership with renowned institutions such as ANAC, is positioning itself to redefine the future of urban air mobility, driving innovations in air transportation in cities around the world. The company is committed to offering a safe and sustainable option for urban transportation and is constantly evolving the design and functionality of its aircraft, always with a focus on efficiency.
