During the ceremony, the Bartolomeu de Gusmão Medal was awarded

The Embassy of Brazil in Sweden, in Stockholm, held, on March 24th, a ceremony to celebrate the Specialist’s¹ Day and the awarding of the Bartholomeu de Gusmão Medal. On the occasion, after the reading of the Order of the Day, the local auxiliary of the Defense, Naval, Army and Air Force Attaché in Sweden, Ulisses Cruzeiro Filho, was awarded the medal for his relevant services to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Brazil in Sweden, Maria Luisa Escorel de Moraes, the Defense Attaché in Sweden, Air Colonel Newton de Abreu Fonseca Filho, Embassy staff and family members.

After welcoming and thanking everyone for their presence, Colonel Newton recalled the achievements of the Aeronautical Specialists of yesterday and today, and the importance of the military to the FAB and to Brazil. “It is essential to highlight the importance of the Aeronautics Specialists. Today, here, such date is reverted of an even greater symbolism, since it is the first time of this celebration in the Brazilian Embassy in Sweden,” he said.

At the ceremony, the Ambassador of Brazil in Sweden commented on the satisfaction in commemorating the date and ratified the quality of services provided by the Medal recipient. “I must also highlight the services provided by FAB Specialists together with SAAB technicians during the acquisition process of the F-39 Gripen fighters, highlighting their importance for the entire Air Force,” she concluded.
