The Joint Operational Command Amazon (Cmd Op Cj Amz), responsible, among other things, for the logistical air support to the National Force of the Unified Health System (FN-SUS), of the Ministry of Health, has reached the significant mark of 200 indigenous people transported by aircraft since the beginning of Operation Yanomami, on January 30, 2023.

So far, 112 indigenous people from the Surucucu and Auaris regions have been evacuated by air to Boa Vista (RR). In addition, 89 indigenous people have returned to their villages (Ixaloipu, Mathutwe, Onkiola, Korunau, among others), in aircraft from Cmd Op Cj Amz, after their health conditions improved.

By carrying out air transport of indigenous people to the capital of Roraima and subsequent health treatment at the Air Force Campaign Hospital (HCAMP) and the Indigenous Health Support House (CASAI), Operation Yanomami aims to make a significant contribution to the hygiene of the indigenous population.

Air support

In order to transport supplies, rescue teams and medical aid to remote regions that are difficult to access, aircraft from the Brazilian Air Force, the Brazilian Army and the Brazilian Navy are being used in humanitarian aid operations.

The H-36 Caracal¹, the H-60 Black Hawk and the C-98 Caravan, from the FAB; the UH-15 Super Cougar, from the Brazilian Navy; and the HM-2 Black Hawk, from the Brazilian Army, are some of the aircraft that are part of Cmdo Op Cj Amz and were used to transport indigenous patients.
