In order to strengthen the relations between the two countries in the area of the Defense Industrial Base (BID – Base Industrial de Defesa), the Ministries of Defense of Brazil and Italy participated, on September 20th, in a meeting at the headquarters of the Brazilian Ministry of Defense, in Brasilia.
On this occasion, the Italian Secretary of Defense participated in a meeting with the Brazilian Minister of Defense, as well as with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (EMCFA – Estado-Maior Conjunto das Forças Armadas), the Secretary of Defense Products (SEPROD – Secretário de Produtos de Defesa) and the Director of the Department of Commercial Promotion (DEPFIN – Departamento de Promoção Comercial), all from the Ministry.
During the meeting, the Chief of the Army Project Office and the Chief of the 7th Air Force Chief of Staff presented the strategic projects of their respective Forces to the delegation.
On September 21st, in Rio de Janeiro, the Italian delegation met with the Navy’s General Director of Material, the Navy’s Industrial Director, the Navy’s Director of Program Management and the Director of Naval Engineering. During the meeting, the strategic programs of the Naval Force were presented, as well as discussed the possibilities of cooperation in defense products.
On the same day, the delegation went to the Naval Project Management Company (Emgepron), where the CEO of the company presented the institutional strategic mission of the company, especially in the management of projects of interest to the Brazilian Navy. Also in Rio de Janeiro, the delegation had the opportunity to see the facilities and products of the company Condor Tecnologias Não-Letais.
On September 22, ending the visit to Brazil, the delegation was received by the Manager of the Modular Undertaking for the Procurement of Submarines, in the Naval Complex of Itaguaí, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro. In the occasion, the Italians had the opportunity to know the Submarine Development Program (Prosub) and to visit the Shipyard and the Steel Structures Manufacturing Unit of the Naval Complex.
Italian Ministry of Defense visits the Brazilian Defense Industrial Base
The delegation from the Italian Ministry of Defense is coming to Brazil to conduct a technical visit to the institutions of the Brazilian Defense Industrial Base. The event will take place between September 20 and 23 in Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro.
The mission aims to strengthen the relations between the two countries in the area of Defense Products, to learn about the capabilities of the Brazilian industrial sector, and to identify possible areas of cooperation of common interest.
The program in Brasilia includes a visit to the facilities of the Ministry of Defense (MD) and a meeting with the minister, presentations of the structures and work of the Armed Forces, as well as the strategic projects of the Defense Products Secretariat. In Rio de Janeiro, the Italian delegation will visit the Navy’s General Directorate of Material, the Naval Projects Management Company, the Condor Company of Non-Lethal Technologies, and the Itaguaí Naval Complex.
