Colonel of the Brazilian Army is featured in master’s degree at the Inter-American Defense College in the USA

Washington, DC (United States) – On June 24, the graduation ceremony of the Master’s Course in Defense Science and Hemispheric Security, held at the Inter-American Defense College in the United States of America, took place, in which a Brazilian Army military officer received a mention of distinction.

The Master’s program lasted one year full-time, with a total of 1645 class hours, and was attended by civilians and military personnel from government agencies in 14 countries of the American continent.

Among the 6 Brazilian military personnel who attended the Master’s program, 2 obtained a distinction, one of them being Colonel Fábio Araújo, from the Army, and the other from the Air Force.

Among the 67 graduates, 11 students were awarded the distinction for achieving both a grade of 95% or higher in the average of the 18 subjects taught and a grade of 92.5% or higher in the oral examination.

The Inter-American Defense College is the educational arm of the Inter-American Defense Board and its purpose is to contribute to the academic training of high-level advisers to the governments of the countries of the Americas, seeking solutions to hemispheric defense and security problems.

The ceremony was chaired by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro, and was attended by Major Brigadier James Taylor, U.S. Army, Director of the College; Brigadier General Carlos Eduardo Barbosa da Costa, Vice Director; Brigadier General Giovani Moretto, Head of the Brazilian Representation to the Inter-American Defense Board; Brigadier General Everton Pacheco da Silva, Military Attaché in the United States and other authorities.

Brazilian sergeant is highlighted in the Maneuver Senior Leaders Course in the USA

Fort Moore, Georgia (USA) – On June 23, Staff Sergeant Allan Diego Sanches Abdalla completed the Maneuver Senior Leaders Course (MSLC) at Henry Caro NCO Academy. The course lasted approximately seven weeks and included 131 student sergeants, 126 from the U.S. Army, one from the Brazilian Army, two from the South Korean Army and two from the Japanese Armed Forces.

Sergeant Abdalla completed the course with a final average of 95.26 and was included in the Commandant’s List, composed of the top 20 percent of students in the course, being the only foreign military to receive this honor.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Marshall Auditorium at the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) headquarters. On this occasion, Sergeant Abdalla received, in addition to the Course Completion Certificate, the Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Achievement and Exemplary Performance.

The MSLC is designed to improve military personnel in the rank of Staff Sergeant (SSG) and Sergeant First Class (SFC), enabling them to act in the role of Platoon Assistant. In this scope, students are subjected to multiple tests on military techniques and tactics, as well as on administrative topics.
