The Minister of Defense, Paulo Sergio, received on Tuesday (14), in his office, the visit of a committee led by the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil, Douglas Koneff.

Opening the meeting, the Minister reinforced the historical partnership between Brazil and the USA in several areas, highlighting the victorious participation of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB), which fought alongside American troops in World War II.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, including joint military operations, international agreements and, in particular, the agreements on Technological Safeguards and Research, Development and Technology Exchange, as well as Cooperation in the South Atlantic region.

Also present were the Chief of Strategic Affairs of EMCFA (Estado-Maior Conjunto das Forças Armadas – Armed Forces Joint Staff), Air Lieutenant Brigadier Hudson Costa Potiguara; the Deputy Chief of International Affairs (SCAI), Brigadier General Sérgio Rezende de Queiroz; and the Chief of the International Relations Section of SCAI, Colonel Eraldo Francisco Ferreira Junior.

The American delegation also included the Coast Guard Attaché (Acting Defense Attaché), Navy Captain Flip Capistrano; the Chief of the Office of Military Cooperation, CG Mark Turner; and the Advisor for Political-Military Affairs, Mark Mineo.
