Washington, DC (USA) – The Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, Army General Laerte de Souza Santos, accompanied by the Vice Chief of Strategic Affairs of the Ministry of Defense, General of Division Raul Rodrigues de Oliveira, and his entourage, made an official visit to the garrison in Washington, D.C., in the United States of America (USA) from October 17 to 20.

Among the activities performed, General Laerte and his entourage visited the Embassy and had an audience with the Brazilian Ambassador to the US, Nestor Forster Jr., accompanied by the Army Attaché in the US, Brigadier General Ulisses de Mesquita Gomes; the Defense and Aeronautics Attaché in the US, Air Brigadier Ramiro Kirsch Pinheiro; and the Head of the Brazilian Representation to the Inter-American Defense Board (RBJID), Brigadier General Giovani Moretto.

On that occasion, General Laerte was at the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington (CEBW) and delivered the Joint Chief of Staff Medal of Merit to the Chairman of the Board of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board, Vice Admiral Alexandre Rabelo de Faria, to the US Army Attaché, General Ulisses, to the US Defense and Aeronautics Attaché, Brigadier Ramiro, and to the Counselor of the Ministry of External Relations, Tatiana Esnarriaga Arantes Barbosa.

In addition to the authorities mentioned above, the Vice-Director of the Inter-American Defense College, Brigadier Leonardo Chaves Rodrigues; and the Chief of the Brazilian Army Commission in Washington, Colonel Alexandre Gueiros Teixeira, attended the event.
