Marabá (PA) – In search of leadership development and the technical improvement of military personnel, the 52nd Jungle Infantry Battalion conducted Operation Munduruku II, a training exercise on techniques, tactics and procedures at the ‘Platoon’ level for the members of the 1st Jungle Marine Company and also for the members of the Command and Support Company, sub-units that will participate in Exercise CORE 23 (Combined Operation and Rotation Exercise), together with the United States Army.

Between April 17 and 20, the soldiers from the 1st Jungle Marine Company received instructions on combat conduct, platoon maneuverability, immediate action techniques, combat in urban environments, patrols, marching to combat, and the use of remotely piloted aircraft systems.

For the troops of the Command and Support Company, the following hunter instructions were given: zeroing shots with AGLC precision rifles, message encryption, setting up a radio station, logistics convoy security, driving a vehicle with night vision goggles, tactical pre-hospital care, among other types of training that will be necessary during CORE 23.

The commander of the 52nd Jungle Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Alexandre Grangeiro de Lima, commented on the effectiveness of the training. “Activities like this are important to verify the operational level of the troops, maintaining a high level of cohesion and readiness for combat.

Also as part of preparation for CORE 23, the military received support from the Army’s Center for Applied Psychology to act in operations in Brazilian territory and in the United States.

The Northern Military Command will receive more than 300 military personnel from the U.S. Army in the months of October and November of this year for Exercise CORE 23. There will be about 20 days of operational activities concentrated in the states of Pará and Amapá.
