The F-39 Gripen fighter jet, registration FAB 4107, landed at Anápolis Air Base (BAAN) on Friday morning, 15.

The aircraft, manufactured by Saab, arrived in Brazil on December 11 via the Port of Navegantes, Santa Catarina. From there, the plane went to the airport in the same city for pre-flight preparation. In this phase, systems that come separately from the fighter during the journey by ship, such as the ejection seat, are assembled. After ground tests, the plane is ready to fly.

The plane took off from Navegantes at 10.30 a.m. towards Anápolis Air Base, on a 1.5-hour trip, conducted by Lieutenant Colonel Abdon de Rezende Vasconcelos, a test pilot from the Brazilian Air Force’s (FAB) Institute for Research and Flight Tests (IPEV).

The 1st Air Defense Group, which operates Gripen fighters at Anápolis Air Base, now has seven aircraft. The 4100 test aircraft has also been in Brazil since 2020, carrying out tests from Embraer’s Gripen Flight Test Center in Gavião Peixoto (SP).
