Event to be held December 5-7 in Bogotá, Colombia
Another international event marks the calendar of the Brazilian Association of Defense and Security Industries (ABIMDE) in December. It’s Expodefensa, an event taking place from December 5 to 7, in partnership with the Bogotá International Business and Exhibition Center – CORFERIAS, in Colombia.
As traditionally, ABIMDE will be in charge of the Brazil Pavilion, with 14 companies representing products and services from the national industry, in addition to Embraer, which will be located outside this space. The Pavilion is coordinated by ABIMDE.
Aimed at being Latin America’s security and defense hub, the 2023 edition will showcase the capabilities of the Armed Forces, highlighting the potential of the defense sector for society. Expodefensa is sponsored by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Colombia.
The event brings together governments, institutions and public bodies, private companies and non-governmental organizations from the defence and security sectors. The last edition of Expodefensa, in 2021, brought together more than 11,000 participants, 220
exhibitors from 25 countries and 90 international delegations from 24 countries (28 Colombian delegations). On that occasion, the Security and Defense production chain was represented in its main branches: land, air, naval, space and security.
In 2023, Expodefensa will once again be the showcase for the international Security and Defense industry and technology for institutional and economic players in Latin America. Meet the companies that will be representing the country at the Brazil Pavilion:
BCA
Ballistic Protection is a ballistic protection technology company on the national and international market, and is a benchmark in the mastery of this technology and in the quality of its production processes. It specializes in armouring cars, aircraft, boats and military vehicles, as well as supplying personal protection products.
CBC – Companhia Brasileira de Cartuchos
The company is one of the largest manufacturers of small-caliber ammunition, meeting the needs of the Brazilian market. It has four internationally recognized brands of ammunition: CBC, Magtech, MEN and Sellier & Bellot. It has production units in Brazil, Germany, Belgium and the Czech Republic.
Condor S/A Industria Química
A company with 100% Brazilian and private capital which, since 1985, has been developing and producing equipment, non-lethal ammunition and high-tech pyrotechnics for use in signaling and salvage. It has more than 120 products in its portfolio, all approved by the Army, Navy and Air Force.
CSD – Defense Components and Systems
CSD operates in the defense sector and belongs to the Hübner Group. It develops and produces aviation bombs, rockets, fuses, ammunition and components for the defense sector. Some of its CSD products are accredited as Strategic Defense Products (SDP) by the Brazilian authorities.
Dupont/ Performance Speciality Products
Dupont operates in several segments, including: polymers and rubbers, ballistic and ballistic protection material, ballistic armor, special packaging and personal protective equipment (PPE). It has high-tech laboratories, such as Kevlar® Experience, a research center for ballistic protection applications.
EMGEPRON
Empresa Gerencial de Projetos Navais – EMGEPRON is a public company linked to the Ministry of Defense through the Brazilian Navy. It manages projects and sells products and services provided by the naval sector of the national defense industry, including military vessels, naval repairs, shipborne combat systems, artillery ammunition, among others.
GESPI Indústria e Comércio de Equipamentos Aeronáuticos S.A.
GESPI operates in the aeronautics and defense industries. It offers a wide range of maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aeronautical components (MRO) for airlines, companies, government agencies and the Armed Forces. It also develops special projects and products for the defense and public security industries.
M&K Advisory, Exporter and Importer
M&K Logistics provides logistics and freight forwarding services. It is a benchmark in the national and international market, carrying out logistics operations to all continents and more than 100 countries, with a vast and diversified client portfolio in the military, public security and industrial explosives sectors.

The company is a subsidiary of Thales in Brazil.
