Under the signed agreement, Slovakia’s KOVAL SYSTEMS a.s will do the complete assembly and produce mechanical items for the CV90 turret. Together, the two companies have agreed to produce approximately 80 parts at the Belusa facility in Slovakia, with the possibility of more parts going into production in the future.

BAE Systems and KOVAL SYSTEMS a.s have signed a contract to support the production of new infantry fighting vehicles (IFV), the CV90MkIV, for the Slovak Armed Forces.

Under the agreement signed between the two companies, Slovakia’s KOVAL SYSTEMS a.s will do the complete assembly of the CV 90 turret and produce mechanical items for the turret. Together, the two companies have agreed to produce approximately 80 parts at the Belusa facility in Slovakia, with the possibility of more parts going into production in the future. Initial tests are planned in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, in 2023.

“Together with our Slovak partners, we are committed to providing an infantry fighting vehicle equipped with advanced features and digital technology for the Armed Forces of Slovakia. The CV90 is a high-quality and very successful vehicle on the market that has proven itself in the rigors of combat,” said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, Managing Director of BAE Systems Hägglunds in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.

“We believe this program will benefit the Slovak Army and will be a success for BAE Systems Hägglunds, KOVAL SYSTEMS and our entire Slovak supplier network. This new and valuable strategic partnership will significantly help Slovak industry in the long term,” said Ján Michálek, Business Director of KOVAL SYSTEMS.

The CV90 industrial cooperation program in Slovakia continues to progress. This contract with KOVAL Systems is one of several that will be signed as CV90’s network of local industrial partners is finalized. In addition to KOVAL SYSTEMS, ZTS-Special has been selected as the final assembler of the vehicles, signing a contract with BAE Systems Hägglunds in December 2022.

Other members of the industrial network include Ray Service s.r.o., for development and production work on electrical components and subsystems, and Aliter Technologies a.s., whose scope in the command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) domain is being defined with BAE Systems Hägglunds.

BAE Systems’ proven industrial cooperation program is based on local partners who play a strategic and high-value role in the development, production, training and support of the CV90 and its many variants. In Slovakia, this strengthens industry and also increases security of supply for the Armed Forces. The growing network of Slovak industrial partners will ensure that local industry plays a key role in the service, maintenance and further development of the CV90s.

As such, the Slovak Army will receive the newest version of the CV9035, known as the CV90 MkIV, with the latest advanced features and digital technology to meet the needs of the evolving battlefield.
