Akaer Introduces New Hydrogen Hybrid UAV and Cargo Drone FamilyAkaer Introduces New Hydrogen Hybrid UAV and Cargo Drone Family

The company was one of the highlights of LAAD, Latin America’s largest defense and security fair, held in Rio de Janeiro

Akaer, always seeking new knowledge and technologies, obtained from FINEP (Financier of Studies and Projects) the approval of a grant for the development of an unmanned aircraft (UAV) of hybrid propulsion based on hydrogen. At the moment the project has been named AKR-H2.

The innovative and unique project in the country will allow Akaer to work on a prototype for the development of a small eVTOL UAV. The goal is to demonstrate the technical feasibility of a cargo transport aircraft using clean energy propulsion. It is also Akaer’s focus to evaluate the alternative of hybrid propulsion through an ethanol generator. This part of the project, however, is awaiting a funding source.

Based on the technology that will be developed with the AKR-H2 project, Akaer intends to develop a family of unmanned aircraft for cargo transportation, focused on civilian use, but which may also serve for other applications such as humanitarian and military.

With headquarters in São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil, and commercial offices in Turkey and Portugal, Akaer has more than three decades of experience in developing cutting-edge technologies for the Defense, Aerospace and Industry 4.0 sectors, with customers in Brazil and abroad.
