Delegation visits several facilities of the Force in Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and Manaus

From June 14 to 18, the Brazilian Navy received the political commissar of the Chinese Navy, Admiral Yuan Huazhi, accompanied by his entourage, for a courtesy visit and to discuss themes related to Defense. This Friday (16), the Navy Commander, Admiral Marcos Sampaio Olsen, and the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral José Augusto Vieira da Cunha de Menezes, received the delegation, in Brasilia-DF.

The agenda represented the resumption of high-level visits between the authorities of the Ministries of Defense of the two countries and the Force Commands, with emphasis on the possibility of cooperation in the academic area and course exchange.

Last Thursday (15), Admiral Yuan and his entourage visited the Fleet Command (ComemCh), the Admiral Marques de Leão Training Center (CAAML), the Liberal Frigate and the Naval War College (EGN), all located in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). On Saturday (17), the delegation visited, in Manaus (AM), the 1st General Helicopter Squadron of the Northwest (EsqdHU-91), the Northwest Center for Hydrography and Navigation (CHN-9), the Hospital Assistance Ship “Doutor Montenegro,” the 1st Battalion of Riverine Operations (1ºBtlOpRib), and the Technical Center for the Training of Western Amazonian Fluviators (CTFFAO).

Relationship between Brazil and China

Since 2009, China has been Brazil’s main trading partner and has been one of the main sources of foreign investment in the country. The relationship also occurs in mechanisms such as the Group of 20 (G20) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). In 1974, the Embassies of Brazil in Beijing and of China in Brasilia were established. Since 2004, there is a Brazilian Naval Agency in China.
