A camp and an aircraft were rendered useless during the operations

With the support of the Amazon Operational Joint Command (Cmdo Op Cj Amz), agents from the Brazilian Environmental Institute (IBAMA) and the Federal Highway Police (PRF) launched an air defense operation yesterday afternoon (02/06) over the Yanomami Indigenous Land (TI), in the Air Defense Identification Zone (ZIDA), in Roraima (RR).

On that occasion, an illicit traffic was identified, intercepted and monitored by aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), models E-99, A-29 and H-36. After the interception, the irregular aircraft landed on a dirt road about 70 kilometers northwest of Boa Vista (RR), and its crew members fled with two motorcyclists who were already waiting for them on the spot. On the ground, IBAMA agents rendered the intercepted aircraft inoperable.

The other operation took place on Thursday (01/06) and was a reconnaissance mission in the region of Homoxi, Yanomami IT, involving air support provided by the Cmdo Op Cj Amz and action by the Federal Police (PF). In this case, the facilities of an illegal mining operation were identified and destroyed by Federal Police agents. Two tents with the utensils left behind by the miners, a washing machine, a stove, a freezer, a chainsaw and fuel were destroyed, as well as two suction motors and a gasoline-powered generator. Although no one was found at the site, there were signs of recent human presence there, such as perishable food in usable condition, sufficient for approximately five people.

Besides the PF agents, a UH-15 aircraft from the Brazilian Navy (MB) also transported a team of specialists from the Amazonas State University (UEA). The team collected water from reservoirs, rivers, and streams in Homoxi and Palimiu (in the Yanomami Indigenous Territory), in order to analyze the possible presence of metals in these water sources. The team also measured pH, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, water temperature, turbidity, and air temperature. The results are expected to be ready in two weeks.

The Operational Intendence coordinates the structure to take the Civic-Social Action to the riverside dwellers

With the objective of permanently focusing on the end-activity and on resoluteness, the Operational Intendence of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) managed the entire structure offered by the Hospital de Campanha (HCAMP) during EXCELSIOR 2023. This was a Civic-Social Action (ACISO), made possible by the ferries of the Commission of Airports of the Amazon Region (COMARA), which provided health care to the riverside communities of the Moura district and the municipality of Barcelos, in the State of Amazonas.

The Campaign Logistics Support Group (GALC), headquartered in Campo dos Afonsos, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), concentrates most of the campaign material used in the operations. In a period of 24 to 48 hours, the operational logistics should be ready to operate in full, with the necessary equipment and supplies. [Click here to download the original image]

Through the Mobile Support Squad (MAS), the Operational Intendence provides support for food, lodging, sanitation (bath and toilets), recreation, and general well-being. In this way, even away from their homes and families, the military perform their duties under adequate conditions.

“With this, we kept the troop with high morale, motivated and ready to fulfill the mission,” explained EMA Commander, Major Intendant Rafael Freitas de Lima.

“It is very gratifying; we are doing a behind-the-scenes job. It is very important to know that those who are at the end of the line, the health personnel, are able to develop their best, thanks to the work that we are doing. Keeping the health personnel in better conditions provides a better quality service and for a longer period of time to the population,” added the EMA Commander.

From the most basic installations, such as the hydraulic and electrical ones, to the optimization of the rafts’ space, everything was meticulously organized to offer the best to all the personnel involved,” he said.

This makes us work harder to offer quality food, not only from the hygienic and nutritional point of view, but also as something that gives comfort to all the military personnel that are involved,” she said.

THE EXCELSIOR

The Logistics, Health and Operational Intendence Employment Campaign Exercise (EXCELSIOR) is an action of the Aeronautics Command (COMAER) of an ostensive nature, which was only possible due to the joint effort of the Airports Commission Support Detachment of the Amazon region (DACO-MN), the Campaign Logistics Support Group (GALC), the Air Force Hospital de Campanha (HCAMP), the Mobile Support Squadron (MAS), the Manaus Security and Defense Group (GSD-MN), and the Intendence Cellular Unit (UCI).
