Until April 14, Safran is taking part in FIDAE 2024 (International Air and Space Fair), considered one of the most important airspace, defense and security fairs in Latin America. The event takes place in Santiago, Chile, and brings together the world’s leading players.

Safran Electronics & Defense, part of the Safran group, is present in the Chilean Armed Forces with many products. It already provides the Chilean army and police with observation, security and target acquisition systems.

Safran Electronics & Defense is the European leader and third in the world in inertial navigation systems (INS) for air, land and naval applications. It is also the world leader in helicopter flight control and the European leader in optronics and tactical UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) systems.

At FIDAE 2024, the company is reinforcing its support for the Chilean Armed Forces with solutions, tools and equipment for their missions, ensuring technological superiority.

Safran will be at Hangar B, stand B30.

CUTTING-EDGE PRODUCTS

Among the wide range of innovations developed by the group, the highlights are those designed for the Navy.

The VIGY family is an extremely important product family. VIGY 4 is the newest member of this family. It is a panoramic, stabilized multi-sensor on-board electro-optical system. Modular and easy to install, it has an HD cooled thermal channel and an HD daytime channel, both with continuous zoom, laser rangefinder, optional SWIR (Shortwave Infrared) channel and automatic video tracking.

Modular and versatile, the VIGY Observer HD has multiple optronic sensors. It uses advanced stabilization technology to provide clear images day and night, even in rough seas and at high speed. Combined with an optional sector surveillance module, VIGY Observer HD offers a simple and efficient situational awareness system for navies, coast guards, customs and police forces.

The Euroflir™ family capitalizes on Safran Electronics & Defense’s 35 years of experience in developing high-performance airborne electro-optical (optronic) systems. The combat-proven Euroflir™ 410 is already used on the NATO Helicopter Management Agency’s (NAHEMA) NH90 helicopters and the French Navy’s AS565 Panthers, deployed in today’s most demanding theaters.

FULL SUPPORT IN BRAZIL

Safran Eletrônica & Defesa Brasil offers local solutions for South American armed forces and police forces, including cutting-edge optronics, navigation and synchronization technologies and advanced avionics systems.

“Being at FIDAE 2024 reinforces the commitment of Safran Eletrônica & Defesa Brasil and the Safran group to actively participate and seek new partnerships, especially in the Chilean market. This enables us to support security and defense sovereignty throughout Latin America. We are always ready and attentive to accompany and face the constant changes and challenges of the aerospace and defense market,” emphasized David Montmasson, the company’s CAA.

To provide threat identification over long distances, Safran offers the PASEO XLR targeting system. It can be used to direct naval artillery fire (all cannon and missile calibers), as well as for sector surveillance and automatic target tracking.

Safran Electronics & Defense is the world leader in submarine periscopes, thanks to its expertise in optronic masts and non-penetrating radar. Present in the French submarine programs, as well as in the export submarines built by Naval Group, and in the Swedish and South Korean programs (A26 and KSS3), Safran Electronics & Defense was selected in 2022 as “preferred supplier” for the non-penetrating search optronic masts for the Australian Navy’s Collins-class submarines.

Featuring its widely deployed patented HRG Crystal™ hemispherical resonator gyroscope, Safran’s range of inertial navigation systems offers major advances in performance, reliability and cost of ownership. Argonyx™ for surface vessels and Black-Onyx™ for submarines are the most compact, robust, discreet and reliable navigation systems on the market today, offering superior performance even where no GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) signals are available. All these solutions are designed to be seamlessly integrated into new or modernized ships. At the meeting point between land and sea, Geonyx M enables independent navigation for smaller vessels such as rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), speedboats, amphibious vehicles and landing craft.

Safran also offers Geonyx™, the most compact INS (Inertial Navigation System) in its performance class, to meet all defense and security requirements. It can be mounted in any orientation on vehicles, turrets and artillery guns and is not hit by vibrations and shocks from artillery guns, thanks to HRG Crystal™ technology. The Geonyx™ family is designed for three main applications: navigation, target geolocation and artillery aiming. Capable of operating in extreme conditions and in environments with no GNSS signal, the equipment is highly reliable.

A high-resolution multispectral camera, the Euroflir™ 410 operates in four spectral bands – with a wide field of view and ultra-long observation range, allowing it to operate at observation distance at any time, day and night. The Euroflir™ 410 is specially adapted for a wide variety of missions: law enforcement support, homeland security, border and coastal surveillance, intelligence, search and rescue (SAR) and combat search and rescue (CSAR).
