Saab and the Swedish Defense Material Administration (FMV) have signed an agreement regarding new functionalities and adjusted delivery schedules for Gripen E and Gripen C/D. The agreement relates to the period 2023-2030 and the value of the order is approximately SEK 5.8 billion.
FMV and Saab have agreed to revise the existing agreement relating to the development and production of Gripen E, adding new functionalities, which include changes to the electronic warfare (EW), communication and reconnaissance systems, as well as changes to the Gripen E and Gripen C/D delivery schedules.
In order to guarantee the operational capability of their fighters, the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV and Saab have agreed to adjust the development and delivery plans, allowing for the continued development and operation of the Gripen C/D after 2030, in parallel with the introduction of the next generation fighters, Gripen E.
