Resende (RJ) – The Agulhas Negras Military Academy has begun Operation Pirapitinga (School Maneuver 2023), an exercise with activities scheduled until November 5. The School Maneuver closes the year of instruction for the cadets of the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN). It is an activity that enables the improvement of leadership and integration between the Arms, Cadres and Services: Infantry, Cavalry, Artillery, Engineering, Intendance, Communications, Ordnance.

A total of 2,500 soldiers from 40 military organizations are taking part in Exercise Pirapitinga. There are also 300 wheeled vehicles and 50 armored vehicles, as well as six aircraft. Various activities are carried out in the towns around Resende, where AMAN is based, such as the deployment of vehicles, night shooting and urban operations.

Basic offensive and complementary operations are also carried out, which are common in conventional warfare. Cadets are required to solve simulated military problems close to the reality of combat. Technology is also present, through a Fire Support Simulator.

Phases of the School Maneuver

Exercise Pirapitinga is conducted in five phases. In the first phase, there is an introduction, an operational readiness, as well as preliminary instructions, held on October 28 and 29. The second and third phases are marked by offensive operations and Stabilization and Support Operations. Next, the cadets take part in Combat Shooting and Integrative Tactical Action. And in the fifth and final phase, they close the exercise with maintenance activities and after-action analysis.
