Boa Vista (RR) – The 1st Jungle Logistics Battalion is implementing various logistics initiatives to maximize the combat power of the 1st Jungle Infantry Brigade. In December, maintenance support was provided to the entire Logistics Command and the construction of the Maintenance Company continues to progress.
Maintenance efforts were undertaken by soldiers from the Battalion and eight other military organizations, involving an extensive process of training and improving the capabilities of the 1st Jungle Logistics Battalion. Preventive and corrective maintenance was carried out on the vehicles and weapons of the 1st Jungle Infantry Brigade, including maintenance of electrical systems, assessment and replacement of damaged parts, cleaning of fuel components, cannon tubes, telescopes and optical equipment.
As a result, six EE-9 Cascavel Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicles, two Specialized Rescue Transport Vehicles, one Specialized Container Transport Vehicle, one Specialized Munck Transport Vehicle, as well as six 105mm L118 Light Gun Howitzers and light weapons of various calibres were made available. Preventive and corrective maintenance ensure the effective functioning of military equipment and have an impact on ground operational readiness in the far north of the country.
Construction is also underway on the Maintenance Company for the 1st Jungle Logistics Battalion. With funds from the Amazônia Protegida and Forças Blindadas strategic programs, the work will result in two maintenance pavilions and a housing pavilion, providing new capabilities, such as carrying out second-level maintenance on the armored vehicles of the 18th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment and the howitzers of the 10th Jungle Campaign Artillery Group.
The Brazilian Army’s Strategic Conception is based on achieving capabilities for the 2022 and 2035 timeframes, and guides the transformation process to be conducted, among others, by the land military logistics vector. Support for the Logistics Command as a whole and the construction of the Maintenance Company are practical applications of this concept, which is necessary to guarantee logistical readiness in the various situations of military use. In the Western Amazon, the 1st Jungle Logistics Battalion is the pioneering military logistics organization in the Land Force.
